Hop on Hop Off: Macau Day Trip Part 1

Going to Macau is easy and I don't recommend for you to get a paid tour guide to get around the City of Macau because the Casino's bus services offer rides for FREE to draw customers/gamblers to their hotel which essentially can take you around the City through these bus services. If you're there for a day trip, the main attraction would be the shows the hotels provide or just go to the popular casinos and take lots of pictures because their lobbies are really nice and grand.

1st stop: Wynn Hotel

From the ferry terminal, we rode the Wynn Hotel Bus right on time to see the Tree of Prosperity and Dragon of Fortune Show. The show runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 am daily and it runs every 30 min. interval.

After being totally amazed by the Prosperity show, we then headed outside to catch the Performance Lake Show also in The Wynn Hotel. It was the usual fountain show in the morning but I bet it's much beautiful at night with all the lights and sound. The show runs from 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight and there's an interval of every 15 minutes.

2nd Stop: MGM Macau

If I remember it correctly, after the Wynn hotel we just crossed a lot of casinos and crossed about 2 streets before we got to the MGM Macau Hotel. We didn't ride the bus anymore. Be prepared to be questioned by a lot of guards whenever you pass by Casinos especially if you're under 21 or look like below 21 like me haha :) I always show my passport and always being questioned about my birth year. Don't be nervous! those are just protocols. Nothing much to do inside the hotels unless you came there to gamble. If not, just soak in the beautiful interiors of the hotel.

If you want, you can also check out the luxury brands scattered all over Macau. I am not sure if prices are cheaper here or it is better to buy in Hong Kong instead.

3rd Stop: Grand Lisboa Hotel

4th Stop: Grand Emperor Hotel - Owner of this hotel is no other than Jackie Chan.

5th Stop: Senado Square or Largo de Senado then to Rue de Felicidade (Food strip)

The Largo de Senado is a cobblestoned street full of tourists and locals alike. It is a Portuguese inspired building that has been preserved until now. The square is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of Macau's Historic Center. It's so nice to go around Largo de Senado because it feels like you've been transported to the past. There are modern outlets where you can shop and buy gifts. But, I highly suggest you buy gifts in Rue de Felcidade--that is if you want to buy food knick knacks like beef jerky, egg has, candies, and nuts.

6th Stop: Ruins of St. Paul

While strolling along Largo de Senado and then Rue de Felicidade, when you get to the Northern end of the narrow street, you'll find the iconic Ruins of St. Paul. The church was destroyed by fire during 1835 and what's left is the ornate facade of the Cathedral. Still beautiful and the facade still looks strong. There are displays inside the Ruins that will tell you about its history. You can explore it and then head to Venetian Hotel and City of Dreams by night time to catch its much anticipated shows--in our case, it was the Winter in Venice lights show.
