Romantic Cruise in Hangang River

I went back to Korea last March 21, 2012 for the second time with my whole family this time. I consider Seoul as my happy place for countless reasons and one of it is the chill and romantic vibe of the city. My boyfriend and I tried the night Hangang River Cruise so we can finally see the famous rainbow bridge fountain.

The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain is the world's longest bridge fountain according to the Guinness World Record with nearly 10,000 LED nozzles that run along both sides of 1,140m long bridge and shooting around 190 tons of water per minute. By night, the 200 colorful lights would dance like a willow tree in the wind and the show lasts for about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the rainbow fountain because there's no show during winter season. So instead of sharing with you how lovely the rainbow show is, I will just share some details on how to get there and the fees.

Note: If you plan to go see the Rainbow Fountain, it is highly advisable to inquire about the schedule of the show before going there. We talked to the guy selling coffee about the schedule and he said it usually starts by the month of April and does not have shows during winter season or if weather is not nice.

How to get there? Go to Jamsil Dock by taking the Subway Line 2 (This is the most convenient way to reach the destination). Get off at Sinceheon Station, Exit 7 then walk for about 15-20 minutes. You will not get bored while walking because of the wonderful scenery of their Park--complete with basketball courts, playgrounds, and bicycle lanes.Just keep walking until you see some floating restaurants and some rainbow boats.

Buy your tickets at the ticket booth. You may choose to buy the one way route or the thematic cruise of either Magic Cruise or Night Live Cruise. We chose the latter because we had no choice since the boat was ready to board.

Magic Cruise costs 14,000 KWN for adults and 7,000 KWN for kids. This is more or less about Php 560 and Php 280. For the Night Live Cruise, it's 15,000 KWN for adults and 7,500 KWN for kids or Php 600 and Php 300 respectively. Almost all cruises last for 70 mins. so you have ample time to chill while the Live Show Cruises depart from Yeouido, Ttukseom, and Jamsil dock every evening except Mondays 7:30 pm onward (I think till 11pm). After you have purchased the tickets, go inside the dock and wait for your boat. There's a convenient store inside. You can buy coffee or beer to keep you warm.

There are no reserve seats inside the boat. You have the option to sit inside or outside. There was a live band during our cruise for entertainment. Like in the KDramas, you may want to purchase ramen, chicken, and beer for a legit experience!
